More Things I Never Thought I'd Say:

"Get your meatball out of her face!"

"Mommy is driving right now. I'll fix your eyes when we get home"

Monkey-Girl

Ok, so I think I told you that we tried changing Lili's crib to a toddler bed a while back and she wanted nothing to do with it. So, we used bungee cords to attach the crib piece back on.  Well, Saturday night I woke up about 4 am to a cooing sound outside our bedroom door. Lili had climbed out of her crib and was making her way through our bathroom by the time I got out of bed. I got her to lie back down thankfully! Of course then I couldn't get back to sleep! Go figure! HA!  This morning I was in my closet getting dressed when I heard a funny noise from Lili's bedroom then within a minute she was standing in front of me! I'm thinking we might be going back to the toddler bed!

I am sitting on the deck with Lili on a lounge chair...me reading & her playing while somewhat snuggling at the same time! I might be in Heaven!
There is something so sweet about the love between a father and his daughter! This morning Lili wanted to go to work with Jim...she just wanted to be with him!

Lili now says "watch" very clearly! Both as in 'watch me do the same thing 5 thousand times' & 'Look I'm wearing Daddy's Rolex watch'! LOL

Lili stylin' in Mommy's "Eyes"

Big Girl Bed

Well, we were going to transform Lili's crib into a toddler bed today, but Lili's had a rough day. She got 5 immunization shots this morning and she's been crabby ever since...not that I can blame her! When we got home I asked her if she wanted to make her crib into a big girl bed. She said, very decisively, "No!" A bit later I asked if she would like to be able to get in and out of her bed by herself. Again a very clear "No!". So my choice was to wait another day. Afterall, if I were to ask her if she wanted to do something and she said no and I did it anyway...no matter whether she knew what I was talking about or not...it surely would be a sign of disrespect, in my mind at least. So...Tomorrow! Tomorrow! We'll put her bed together tomorrow! It's only a day away!

I love tucking Lili in bed! After we read a book or two we recite our goodnight story from memory - "I Love You Through And Through" -  then she lies across my lap as I rock her & sing to her - Usually "Touch the Air Softly" by Peter Mayer!
Bath time is music time for Lili! We get to listen to her kid songs while she splashes in the tub!

Sing a Song

Lili loves to sing and dance! While watching American Idle last night she came up up me and said "I wan dance!" LOL so of course how could I deny her? We danced all around the living room as I dipped her and flipped her and spun her!
She is learning a few songs too! She often will bust out singing "Eee-i-oh! Eee-i-oh!" or "a-b-d-d"! After Jim or I sings the Alphabet song she will always clap and say "yay"! One day I started singing "If you're happy and you know it" and she started clapping her hands and stomping her feet in the right places immediately. I figured she must have learned the song at day care. I asked Kari (the day care lady) about it the next day and, though she couldn't remember for sure she said they do sing quite a bit there so they probably have sung that song before.

My baby is just so darn cute!

Keeping up with the times

Well, with my new busy life I've decided to move my blog to Blogger so I can update it via my cell phone! I'm hoping this will make it easier for me to keep you all up to date on our lives...especially miss Lili!
Speaking of the lovely Liliana...
She is growing so fast and growing her vocabulary in huge ways! She now speaks in some full sentences and tries hard to duplicate anything we say! (For those who know me well you know how frightening this could be! LOL) "Shucks" is a favorite word...particularly when something doesn't go her way...can you guess how that came about? HA! The good news is that it really makes me think about what I say and I am just thankful that my backpeddling has worked so far!
When Lili started daycare we began using time-out here at home as that is the form of punishment they use there. It's actually close to comical...I'll ask her "Lili do you need to go to time out?" She'll respond "Yeah," and proceed to go to the TV room, get her desk chair, move it to the corner and sit in time out. I'll time her and when she is done she comes over, gives me a hug, and I talk to her a little bit about why she was in time out and what she can do differently next time. I always end with an "I love you!" Interestingly I've learned that time-out sometimes is no more or less than a way for her to just chill out. After she put herself in time-out one time, I filed the experience away in my brain and the next time she was just being cranky and uncooperative, I asked her, gently & with compassion, if she needed a time-out. And just like any other time she said "yeah" and proceeded to her corner. In these cases I let her know that it is her choice to go to time out but the rules of time-out stay the same (no toys, same time limit, etc). Usually she will emerge more relaxed & ready for her hug.
Lili is officially potty training now also! She is wearing pull-ups during the day at day-care or when we are running around town, though at home I usually let her go diaper-free when she is awake. She is doing very good and only occasionally has misses.  We recently bought a couple potties that look like frogs which she just absolutely loves! Often when she needs to go potty she'll say "frof! frof!" (she hasn't quite mastered the art of the letter 'G').
Well, there is so much I could tell but right now I need to sleep!

Wishing you all Peace, Love & Joy!
